The Role

Overview

Constructs and finishes concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, flatwork, and structures.

Tasks

-Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards -Load and unload materials, machinery, and tools -Responsible for setting the concrete forms, ensuring they have the correct depth and pitch -Work with buckets and pump truck to place concrete -Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge -Level, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straight edge and float or power screed -Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies -Adheres to all DCS Contracting safety policies, procedures, and instructions from management -Meet production goals from the direction of the site Foreman or Superintendent -Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel, broom, or hand trowel -Safely and efficiently operate and use associated tools and equipment -Remove rough or defective spots from concrete with abrasive stone or grinder and then create a textured or broomed finished surface -Spread concrete to the specified depth using a concrete vibrator or hand tools -Clean, inspect and perform routine maintenance of equipment and tools -Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas

What You Bring

-Must be a team player and be willing to help out wherever is needed for the success of the project -Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing. -Must be able to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks -Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs. -3+ years experience of concrete construction work -Experience operating general site equipment -Ongoing Safety and Construction Training -Ability to get the job done with minimal supervision -Able to work outside in all weather conditions -Reliable transportation and work schedule flexibility -General knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements -Willingness to learn and accept direction from field supervision -Must have reliable transportation to and from work site
