Tasks
-Evaluate trade-offs: Weigh platform scalability, cost, reliability, compliance (UL 9540/1741/9540A, NEC), and supply chain flexibility to guide decision-making. -Shape the future platform: Own the product vision for Generac’s next-generation residential energy storage platform, grounded in customer needs, market dynamics, and technical innovation. -Enable go-to-market success: Collaborate with sales, marketing, and field support to define positioning, messaging, and launch readiness. -Lead cross-functional development: Partner with hardware, firmware, software, UX, regulatory, and operations teams to deliver solutions from concept through launch. -Drive roadmaps: Develop and maintain a multi-year product roadmap, aligning with business strategy, engineering capabilities, and evolving regulatory requirements. -Define system-level architecture: Drive requirements around inverter-battery integration, communications, power classes, and enclosure design. -Translate insights into action: Convert input from customers, installers, and grid operators into clear product requirements (MRDs, PRDs), use cases, and value propositions. -Balance performance & design: Collaborate with industrial design and mechanical engineering to ensure products are high-performing, manufacturable, and aesthetically appealing. -Support multiple products: While focused on next-gen development, contribute to features and technical needs across current products to ensure portfolio success. -Stay ahead of the industry: Track competitive offerings, standards, and market shifts to ensure Generac leads in innovation and customer value.

What You Bring
-Background in systems engineering, field applications engineering, or firmware/hardware development with transition into product strongly preferred. -Excellent communication skills with both engineering teams and executives. -Comfortable working across hardware, firmware, and software domains. -Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical field. -Technical fluency with battery systems, inverters, EMS platforms, and grid interconnection requirements. -Customer-centric approach — able to translate technical complexity into clear value. -Knowledge of U.S. residential energy markets, DER aggregation, or VPP programs. -Strategic thinker with the ability to also dive into technical details when needed. -Strong technical foundation paired with a product management mindset. -Thrives in ambiguity, fast-moving projects, and a small, high-impact team environment. -Experience with product lifecycle tools (Jira, Confluence, PLM systems). -5+ years of product management or closely related experience, ideally with 1–3 years in energy storage, solar, or power electronics. -Proven ability to ship complex hardware + software systems from concept through production. -Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA. -Familiarity with UL 9540, IEEE 1547, NEC, NFPA 855, and other energy codes. -Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers or ODMs on platform development.
