  • Perform and manage safety-focused planning efforts
  • Lead and support multimodal transportation projects including corridor studies, safety audits, and operations analyses
  • Support the development of transportation policies and programs for North Carolina communities
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support Charlotte strategic initiatives
  • Prepare reports, planning documents, and client presentations
  • Conduct technical traffic engineering work using Synchro, SIDRA, HCS, MicroStation and VISSIM
  • Contribute to proposals, project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Take on increasing levels of responsibility as a transportation planning–focused Project Manager with business development capabilities
  • Serve as a task or discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects

This position is designed for a 5–8+ year professional with a strong technical foundation in transportation planning and traffic operations—and a desire to contribute to mentorship and project management for our Charlotte, NC strategic initiatives, particularly in the local government market. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, taking on key project responsibilities and supporting a balanced team structure and advancing our long-term business development goals.

  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Technically proficient and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Synchro, HCS, MicroStation and VISSIM required
  • PTOE certification preferred
  • Critical thinker with a strategic, solutions-oriented approach
  • Familiar with North Carolina-specific standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field
  • Experience with North Carolina transportation clients and agencies is strongly
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with SIDRA, Cube/FSUTMS, GIS, and AutoCAD is a plus
  • 5–8+ years of experience in transportation planning/engineering (consulting preferred)
