The Role

Overview

Leads housekeeping staff, maintains clean common areas, manages supplies, and reports to management.

Tasks

-Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment. -Dust and polish furniture and equipment. -Supervise trash pickup of all common areas and property. -Observe precautions required to protect Residents, guests and property, and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors. -Prepare rooms for meetings, and arrange decorations, and furniture for social or business functions. -Carry toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts. -Observe all State, Federal and Company safety standards/precautions while performing task in order to maintain a safe work environment. -Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers. -Supervise and assign tasks to the housekeeping staff. -Maintain all work and common areas clean and free from debris. -Order, maintain, and keep full stock of housekeeping supplies needed to complete work. -Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary. -Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers. -Keep storage areas and carts well stocked, clean, and tidy. -Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. -Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required. -Report deficiencies and repair needs around the property as observed. -Remove debris from driveways, garages, and swimming pool areas. -Report any and all maintenance items that include, but is not limited to, burned out lights, leaks, broken equipment to the Building Maintenance Department. -Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.

What You Bring

-Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the role of housekeeper, janitor, or porter for a residential building. -Ability to reach with hands and arms. -At least one-year experience in managing and supervising a housekeeping department. -Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and how to properly use them. -Prior experience in a related position. -Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk and climb stairs, climb ladders, crawl in small and tight spaces; stoop and/or kneel; lift and/or move and/or carry up to 20 pounds in the work environment. -Ability to push cleaning equipment up to 30 lbs. -Must have the ability to react and address all emergencies in a timely manner. -Ability to repeat various motions with the wrists, hands and fingers. -Effective written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to use standard cleaning equipment within a residential building; vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, cleaning cart, etc. -Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, common rooms (party room, children’s play room, fitness center) and other work areas so that health standards are met. -Ability to handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment.
