Tasks

-Coordinates structural engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups -Provides technical assistance to other structural personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues -Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders -Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions -Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements -Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations -Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution -Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering -Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals -Mentors and assists more junior structural team members -Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations

What You Bring

-Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures -Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally -Proficient in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD.Pro -Possess active security clearance -Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects. -Thorough knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, ACI 318, IBC and ASCE 7 -Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Civil or Structural Engineering) -Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures -Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide -Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client -Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense -Prior engineering team leadership experience, relevant experience includes previous experience supervising others -Thorough knowledge of the provisions of ACI 349, ASCE 4-98 standards -Proficient in the use of Mathcad or similar software -Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. -Experience with procurement automation tools -Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact -Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
