The Role

Overview

Lead HDR's Education & Science practice, overseeing client relations, pursuits & projects.

Tasks

-In collaboration with subject matter experts, and independently when appropriate, developing abstracts and presentations for industry conferences, seminars, workshops, and other similar events promoting program messages, research, project outcomes, lessons learned, trends, etc. related to facility design. -Leading pursuit go/no-go and strategy discussions. -Providing mentorship and guidance to staff in support of career development. -Help develop qualifications and proposals for pursuits. -Build on existing client relations and initiate new relationships with key clients. -Serving as Principal-in-Charge as appropriate. -Preparing and negotiating project contracts. -Develop annual budgets for the Education and Science market sector coordinating with other local and regional leaders. -Working closely with local leadership to maintain project oversight throughout execution, including conformance to client expectations for technical/quality, financial performance, and schedule adherence. -Directing interview strategies and implementation. -Identify pursuit opportunities in the region developing strategies to incorporate them into our annual business plan. -Maintaining an active and visible presence in the sector, allocating time in proportion to annual fee goals for the local region.

What You Bring

-Strong team leadership, mentoring, motivational/organizational and people skills -Must have experience on large-scale projects -Experience working with academic institutions in the State of California. -Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED -Bachelor's degree in Architecture -A minimum 7 years project management experience -Must be able to lead a team on projects and make client presentations -Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) -Excellent written and verbal communication skills -15 years related experience -Advanced credentialing (e.g. LEED, Well AP, PMP, etc.) -Registered Architect -Stronger consideration will be given to individuals with experience in higher education research labs and corporate developer S+T experience - with client connections/relationships. -Must be willing to travel -Extensive knowledge and experience within the local and regional market
