The Role

Overview

Engineer leads civil design, analysis, and project execution for substations.

Tasks

-Responsible for project budgets and schedules. -Performs engineering analyses in support of grading, foundation, and structural needs within a Substation. -Occasional contacts with customers and outside agencies. -Occasional travel to suppliers facilities, industry organizational functions and SRP facilities. -Administers and reviews work performed by consultants and others. -Contacts with suppliers of equipment and services. -Prepares specifications and evaluates bids. Supports the RFP process by providing relevant information for project success. Serves as SME during bid process and provides guidance to bidders. -Performs as engineering project leader. Responsible for performing or overseeing scoping, estimating, design development, material ordering, drawing IFC sets, and construction support duties. Duties are from inception to completion. -Prepares and/or conducts written and oral reports and presentations. These can range from training opportunities, innovation proposals, standard change presentations, to root cause analysis and investigation findings. -Performs engineering design work and engineering studies. List of tasks may include some drafting in MicroStation, application of SRP standards, civil calculations, structural analysis, water retention and grading.

What You Bring

-Performs field engineering work as needed. Travel is required within local service territory or to remote sites for company business needs. -Design and/or codes computer programs as needed for duties. Programs may include MathCad, MicroStation, StatPro and other civil related programs. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is a must. -Experience in structure and/or foundation design. -Ability to use engineering tools required for the job (i.e., computer, test equipment, etc.). -Experience working with Civil standards and specifications. -Prepares recommendation material for management consideration. Creative problem solving skills, can propose innovative ideas to resolve complex challenges. -Knowledge of Civil construction methods, codes, and safety procedures. -Proficient in utilizing engineering tools. -Ability to work effectively with various organizational groups within SRP. -Familiar with industry standards as well as applicable regulatory requirements in relation to Substation Design.
