Tasks

-Identify design-related risks and opportunities, contributing to the project risk register. -Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture. -Recognize and determine priority of tasks and schedule work for on-site and off-site design teams. -Assist in coordination of Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and shop drawings for conformance with contract requirements in support of the construction schedule. -Ensure all civil designs comply with relevant UK Water Industry standards, regulations (e.g., CESWI, WIMES), British Standards, Eurocodes, and client-specific requirements. -Assist in design and construction reviews and to gain approval of all design-related questions/clarifications and packages Participate and facilitate design review meetings with owner, stakeholders, and operators to advance design packages. -Provide field and construction guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and younger Engineers on-site or off-site to ensure design meets as built and existing conditions. -Monitor scope and assist in the preparation of change documents and analyse interdisciplinary impacts. -Generate design deliverables list and design schedule for the pursuit. -Assist with design and schedule estimates for owner-directed change orders and contractor requested changes Monitors drafting progress for all disciplines on his/her specific projects. -Oversee the management and control of design documentation, drawings, and specifications. -Assist the Design Manager with the preparation of drafting work scopes and man hour estimates for all proposals. -Effectively communicate design progress, challenges, and solutions to all relevant stakeholders. -Implement mitigation strategies to minimise design risks. -Engage with the construction team to ensure designs are practical and minimise risks during construction. -Ensure adherence to company design management procedures and quality assurance processes. -Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, design consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies. -Conduct meetings, reviews, prepare documentation and assist the PM in preparation of contractual communication to owner and subcontractors. -Assist with identification of out-of-scope tasks and preparation of change orders to owner and/or contractor. -Facilitate coordination meetings for each of the above to move them forward. -Track the development of design deliverables, ensuring quality and on-time completion. -Participate in discipline task force teams, peer reviews, and evaluation of construction means & methods and applies lessons learned/best practices. -Review designs for constructability, buildability, and efficiency, providing practical input to optimise solutions. -Identify and promote value engineering opportunities to achieve cost savings and programme efficiencies without compromising quality or performance.

What You Bring

-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). -Proven experience in a civil design role, specifically within the UK water and wastewater infrastructure sector for a tier 1 contractor (e.g., clean water, wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations). -Proactive and self-motivated with a strong problem-solving, can do attitude. -Experienced in using UU CDE and project delivery processes -Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. -Resilient and adaptable to changing project demands and priorities. -Knowledge of BIM methodologies and collaborative design platforms particularly Bentley project wise. -Experience with NEC contracts, particularly Options A & C. -Experience with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D) – though not for design creation, but for review/understanding. -Full UK Driving Licence. -Appreciation of the regulatory environment in the UK water sector -Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple design packages concurrently. -Degree in Civil Engineering . -Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and design processes relevant to water/wastewater assets. -4 years experience in a D&B environment -Proficiency in reviewing and understanding engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
