Floating Mechanic

Overview

Diagnose, repair and maintain heavy construction equipment for the Aggregate Division in Denver.

Tasks

-Examines parts for damage and excessive wear, using micrometers or gauges -Cleans, lubricates and performs routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles -Schedules maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keeps equipment service records -Operates and inspects heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects -Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems -Reads and interprets manuals, blueprints and technical drawings -Adheres to all safety protocol to include confined space entry, lock-out-tag-out, working at heights, wearing appropriate safety glasses, gloves and other personal protective equipment, as well as all OSHA, MSHA requirement -Tests mechanical products and equipment to ensure proper performance, and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications -Diagnoses faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices -Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools -Stays abreast of new technology and methodology through on-the-job training and technical schools -Repairs and replaces damaged & worn parts
