The Role

Lead commercial strategy, cost control and team for multiple construction projects.

Tasks

-Manage and develop a medium-sized commercial team, ensuring adherence to processes and training on best practice. -Provide commercial support to the planning function. -Work with the Commercial Director on implementing new cost systems and reports. -Assist with medium-term budget reports and business risk/opportunity identification. -Conduct commercial and contractual appraisal of tenders. -Work hand-in-hand with the Operations Manager to implement and set strategy for all projects. -Advise on procurement strategies for all projects. -Implement and manage cost control and monitoring processes with Ops and commercial staff. -Collate CVRs and produce monthly commercial reports and presentations for Directors. -Ensure accurate forecasting is implemented on every project. -Deliver staff training and personal development reviews. -Set strategies for maximising profit and managing risks and opportunities. -Support Directors in achieving planned growth for the business. -Lead commercial and contractual negotiations with clients. -Identify, manage, and submit contractual claims while avoiding disputes.

What You Bring

-A strong leader with team management skills. -Ability to drive continuous improvement and best practice. -Excellent commercial acumen and ability to set and implement strategies. -Ability to identify and manage risks and opportunities to maximise profit. -Proven experience in a senior commercial management role within construction or infrastructure. -Solid understanding of procurement strategies and tender appraisals. -Exceptional communication and presentation skills. -Experience collaborating with senior leadership on budgets and growth strategies. -Strong track record of setting and implementing commercial strategies across multiple projects. -Extensive experience in cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting (including CVRs). -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. -High level of proficiency in MS Office and commercial systems -Hands-on experience with contractual claims, dispute avoidance, and client negotiations. -Demonstrated ability to lead and develop commercial teams. -Familiarity with medium-term business planning (desirable) -Experience implementing new cost systems (desirable)
