Perform Constructability Reviews
Monitor change order work in the field and sign-off on force account work tickets
Monitor the excavation, loading and off-haul of hazardous materials from construction sites
Participate in site safety inspections; Report safety deficiencies and violations when observed
Participate or lead coordination discussions between Port Survey team and contractors
Coordinate material deliveries and delivery logistics including time of day and proper delivery routes
Review plans, specifications, submittals, drawings, change orders, and RFIs for requirements of the construction contract to be applied in the field

Inspect and ensure that project redlines /record drawings are up to date
Issue Construction Advisory Forms (CAFs)
Maintain required safety training current
Attend meetings as necessary to keep abreast of upcoming contractor operations and safety alerts
Participate in the review of initial project designs before plans are finalized and put out for bid. Assist with bid quantity take-offs
Take or verify field measurements/quantities for contract payments
Participate in managing and inspecting project punch list and cover inspections and provide status reports on completion progress
Verify / evaluate consultant invoices and provide recommendations for payment
Identify, document and track closure of contractor work that is out of compliance or deficient, Initiates NCRs for action by the Resident Engineer
Prepare and maintain documentation including inspection logs, daily reports, force accounts, materials testing, and other construction records
Witness special inspections, testing (on or off-site) of contract material, equipment, and installations
Participate with or lead coordination efforts between outside consultant inspection agencies (special inspection & testing, environmental, hazardous materials) and contractors
Prepare and maintain digital photographic documentation of assigned projects
Inspect project site conditions and ensure contractors utilize and maintain Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control (TESC) best practices according to the standards of each project; report any TESC or environment related issues
Update design plans/drawings based on changes that occur during actual construction; document reasons for change; and ensure drawings are an accurate representation of work actually performed
Coordinate routine shutdown requests from contractors with customers, tenants and Port department, which include notification to all interested parties and obtaining required approvals/signatures
Identify construction issues and problems and recommend potential solutions
Coordinate and communicate construction activities between contractors, tenants, other Port departments, and the general public
Draft Construction Management Weekly Progress Reports for review and distribution by the Port Construction Manager.
Participate in planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling and field project team meetings
Monitor and inspect the work of contractors to ensure proper construction methods are utilized

Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contracts, identifying non-compliance with contract provisions.
Possess concise, organized, and clear communication skills with attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field or equivalent work experience
Ability to work effectively with a team
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
Technical knowledge of construction operations, methods, materials, costs, and equipment, along with an understanding of engineering and architectural design principles.
5-7 years of relevant construction, general or special inspection, or other construction field work.
Experience to define, analyze, and resolve problems and can resolve them in a timely manner or escalate to supervisor/manager for resolution
