The Role

Overview

Perform field and lab testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates for projects.

Tasks

-Collect and prepare construction material samples for laboratory analysis. -Perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates to ensure materials meet project specifications, CDOT requirements, and industry standards. -Conduct density, compaction, and moisture testing using nuclear gauges and other field testing equipment. -Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and testing procedures to verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering requirements. -Uphold CMT's commitment to safety, ensuring all work is performed according to OSHA and company safety guidelines. -Communicate testing results and observations clearly to contractors, engineers, and project managers. -Represent CMT professionally on active construction sites and with clients throughout the Denver Metro area. -Maintain and calibrate all assigned testing equipment in accordance with CMT and manufacturer standards. -Accurately record test data and prepare clear, legible field reports for submittal to project managers and engineers.

What You Bring

-High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or degree in civil engineering, construction materials, or related field preferred. -Prior experience working on transportation, infrastructure, or commercial development projects in Colorado. -WAQTC Certifications in Soils, Aggregate, or Asphalt -Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. -Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail. -CDOT Lab/Field Tester Certification (preferred) -Hands-on experience with nuclear density testing, concrete sampling, and soil classification. -Self-motivated and adaptable with a professional, client-focused demeanor. -Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs). -ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (required or obtainable after hire) -OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training -Familiarity with CDOT, ASTM, and AASHTO testing procedures. -Strong understanding of construction materials, field procedures, and quality control documentation. -Nuclear Gauge Safety and Operations Certification -1–3 years of experience in construction materials testing or geotechnical fieldwork preferred (entry-level candidates will be trained).
