Intern Architect

Overview

Assist with architectural design, BIM modeling, documentation, and site coordination.

Tasks

-Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks. -Utilizes BIM technologies in development of threedimensional models of buildings and their components. -Implements sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment. -Attends project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants. -Supports project teams in development of architectural design documentation. -Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details. -Assists in the evaluation and selection of building systems and materials. -To interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material and translate them into a 3D model. -Actively participates in design critiques and pinups, and has a passion for progressing the pursuit of design excellence. -Assists in site analysis, research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents. -Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies. -Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, 3D models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.

What You Bring

-Ability to produce presentation renderings, diagrams, and massing models. -Masters degree in Architecture (M.Arch). -Basic knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards are expected. -Basic understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. -To engage in creative and critical thought. To sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively. -Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building program. -Knowledgeable about innovation in architecture, and actively tracks new trends in design. -Basic knowledge and application of applicable building codes. -Requires an understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, Enscape and/or Lumion, and the Microsoft Office suite of apps. -Ability to develop floor plans, elevations, wall sections, and details to a construction documentation level. -Currently registered as an Intern Architect with the Alberta Association of Architects, or eligible to do so.
