The Role

Overview

Analyze civil scopes, perform takeoffs, and develop cost estimates for nuclear construction bids.

Tasks

-Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external team members -Review RFP to determine scope of work and estimate requirements -Follow and develop procedures implemented by the Civil Estimate Manage and other Lead Estimators. -Be involved with the construction execution plan, and upon project award, it is expected that the basis of estimate will serve as the actual plan for construction -Align bid packages to proposal requirements prior to being issued to subcontractors and vendors -Learn and become a subject matter expert with InEight Estimating software -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Analyze crew structures for composite rate development in union, merit shop, and prevailing wage labor markets -Determine labor, material, construction equipment, subcontract, and other direct cost for self-performed construction execution -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Evaluate Quote Comparison Sheets once subcontractor and vendor pricing has been received -Perform quantity takeoff development from drawings, specifications, and other related documentation -Upon successful contract award, assist with project initiation by conforming the estimate while working with business, project controls, and the production team -Develop an estimate to support proposal creation and bid submittal documents, especially when it comes to complex pricing sheets (ie bid forms, bid tabs, etc) -If necessary, assist in customer presentation preparation -Determine project successes and areas for improvement by analyzing past cost from ongoing and completed projects

-Regular, reliable attendance -Demonstrate advanced skills with Microsoft Excel -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering / Technology and may be substituted with extensive and related work experience -Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy industrial construction -Strong verbal and written communication skills -Exceptionally strong attention to detail -Civil scope covers grading, trenching underground utilities, aggregates, temporary environmental, pavements, and stormwater piping and structures.
