Overview

Manage major litigation, claims, and investigations for Kiewit's construction projects.

Tasks

-Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Participate as an integral member of teams in the evaluation and development of detailed claims utilizing Kiewit’s propriety method. Retain and collaborate with outside counsel, internal resources, and external experts on the resolution of claims, disputes, and other matters. -Perform initial case assessment and perform detailed review of relevant contractual provisions, facts, and applicable law to provide early accurate case/matter risk assessment. -Provide training to operations leaders on “lessons learned.” -Coordinate resolution strategy with the internal stakeholders and subject matter experts. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Lead strategic management of assigned legal matters in collaboration with internal and external resources and stakeholders.

What You Bring

-Self-driven and collaborative to achieve goals independently, as well as in teams. -Background in construction law, government contracts, government investigations, environmental law and labor law preferred but not necessary. -Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school. -The ability to clearly and concisely express and explain complex legal issues and analysis to colleagues as well as non-lawyers, including executive management. -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Ability to thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities. -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. -Flexibility to travel as necessary to support the needs and demands of the work. -5+ years of demonstrated legal experience with a law firm, corporate legal department, or public law department where the work was primarily litigation-related. -Active membership in a state bar association. -Excellent writing, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills. -Excellent legal analysis and communication skills. -Regular, reliable attendance -Personal and professional resonance within the Company’s culture is essential. -Creative problem-solving skills with entrepreneurial approach.
