Tasks

-Modeling of electrical rooms, equipment, cable tray, conduit, conduit duct bank, lighting, receptacles, etc., in a SmartPlant 3D model environment. -This role will support design development of electrical systems and equipment for the Sentinel project by preparing models, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. -Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, i.e., input, interference reconciliation, etc., with other physical related disciplines. -Develops designs for complete and complex electrical engineering systems, such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing, with minimum supervision, from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed. Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. -Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations. -The candidate will work with electrical engineers, junior designers, and other technical disciplines in a team environment with job responsibilities (include but are not limited to): -Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents. -Participates in constructability reviews. -Ensures electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards. -Assists in constructing detailed scale models. -Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved electrical design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation, and construction economy. -Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort. -Reviews electrical design scope changes, as required, for project management. -Develop material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact. -Supporting, coaching, and training less experienced designers. -Performing calculations utilizing AGI 32 for lighting layouts and ETAP for ground grid layouts. -Responsible for physical design implementation by producing drawings of interior and exterior layouts/plans/elevation views of the raceway design (conduit/cable tray/duct bank), equipment location and layout, lighting layouts, lightning protection layouts, and grounding plans. -Leads or administers the work of electrical designers and drafters for a business line technology, to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models, and construction drawings. -Creating a bill of materials and drawing installation details for the modeled items listed above, in addition to grounding, lightning protection, support details, and other details using SmartSketch and AutoCAD. -Coordinate with systems engineering department to establish and verify design/project requirements. -Modeling of piping, HVAC, and Mechanical equipment in a SmartPlant 3D model environment.

What You Bring

-Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and layouts. -Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). -Must have experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and be able to input and complete corrections to the database. -Knowledge & application of NEC code and NEMA/ANSI/IEEE Standards. -Broad knowledge of the application of electrical engineering design principles. -Ability to resolve design issues independently and collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client. -Hands-on and advanced experience using SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD. -Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications. -Capable of independent creative design, with direction, using Bechtel and industry-proven concepts and procedures. -Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively. -Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines. -Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks. -Previous DoD/DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA project experience. Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000. -Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards. -Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally. -Requires AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 7-8 years of experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience without a degree. -Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings for electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building electrical systems.
