The Role

Overview

Lead and manage a multi‑disciplinary earthworks team, ensuring H&S, quality and productivity on Sizewell C site.

Tasks

-Produces the risk schedule for section, reviews and updates -Motivate section team and manage performance; monitor the competency of team members and undertake training/ coaching as appropriate -Assists Lead in Incident Investigation and information gathering / review. -Chairs prescribed Short Interval Control section meetings to review performance on site -Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance -Implements systems and processes to manage the quality of the constructive works -Sets targets and KPI’s in line with budget forecast -Involved in the procurement of subcontractors and advises on commercial aspects / preferred attendances -Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate -Appraises improvement options and actions / instigates as appropriate -Carry out constructive analysis of fully resourced programme -Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm -Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings -Involved in working groups focused on Improvement Areas -Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project objectives and monitors performance -Attends and provides reports for weekly project meetings and identifies improvement areas and allocates / implements appropriate actions to team members -Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an appropriate level of ability -Manages sub-contractor performance based on KPI’s -Carries out periodic Safety & Environment Tours as required by the Project H & S Plan -Ensures production of operational target programmes to reflect overall construction programme -Identifies and arranges training as required -Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team -Monitors effectiveness of the H & S Management System -Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register -Sets targets and KPI’s in line with key outputs and monitors performance, reporting Section Progress

What You Bring

-Excellent team player and leader, able to work competently and independently without supervision -Proficient in the application of Company Systems -Good report writing skills -Innovative approach to enhancing safe systems of work -Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity; experienced at encouraging direct reports to do the same and managing a team to ensure tasks are carried out effectively and key messages cascaded -Experience in the management of pavement reconstruction and surfacing operations, including -Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems and capable of stopping operations when necessary. -Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility -Excellent role model for team and demonstrates required behaviours to align to business, project and team objectives -Good working knowledge of current H & S legislation -Understands the Organisational Business Management Systems and processes -Able and willing to make decisions following consideration of options based on best available information; track record of solution orientated approach to resolve issues -Understands method statements and can coach others in document production -Able to analyse and offer improvement on a fully resourced stage programme in the accepted format / software -Proficient IT skills -Competent in reading technical drawings and information, and understands the principle of design management. -Able to dynamically shift programme and adapt to circumstances on site whilst maintaining focus on targets -Experienced in resource allocation and up skilling -Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights as required by the programme -Clear understanding and experience of the requirements for handover and self-certification of the works, including management experience of the same -Understands and can guide others in the principles of Accident / Incident Investigation -Understands sub-contractor KPI’s and has experience of using them to manage performance -Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card. -Strong communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills -SMSTS qualified.
