Traffic/ITS Engineer III

Overview

Design, calculate, and produce traffic and ITS engineering plans, specs, and reports.

Tasks

-Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects. -Prepares construction plans with ORD and AUTOCAD Civil 3D for signalization, signing and pavements marking, lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). -Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline. -Perform lighting calculations and develop models using a lighting photometric program such as AGi32. -Provide Electrical service design for Lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design projects. -Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided. -Prepare engineer’s estimates using the Basis of Estimates, Cost per Mile models, Historic Costs, and FDOT’s Long Range Estimates (LRE) software. -Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members. -Uses FDOT’s Florida Design Manual, Standard Plans, Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, and Florida Greenbook to prepare plans. -Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans. -Layout lighting fixtures on plans and demonstrate fundamental knowledge of lighting concepts. -Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. -Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members. -Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables. -Assist in the development of project specifications.

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or -Possesses an in-depth knowledge of FDOT standards and processes. -Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience, or -Professional Engineer (PE) license -PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
