What You Bring

Full Time, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, some weekends necessary We are searching for an energetic, experienced program and volunteer coordinator for this full-time management role which reports directly to the General Manager. You will meet with residents to assess their recreational needs & interests. Then, you will be responsible for the development, promotion, and implementation of creative, innovative and meaningful recreation programs and special events based on the dimensions of wellness and our residents’ needs. You will commit to recruit, orient, train, assign and recognize the team members, volunteers and co-op students as integral parts of the program. It is also imperative that you work closely with all team members and volunteers to develop and coach a cohesive approach to running successful recreational programs and team meetings. If you have a passion for working with seniors and love working as a team, we would love to hear from you! -Ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English -Ability to demonstrate leadership while motivating team members and volunteers to become genuinely involved in activities -SmartServe certification required prior to start -Valid G license with clean drivers abstract -Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekend, & scheduled manager on duty shifts (one in eight weekends). -Post-secondary education Diploma in Recreation Therapy, Recreation and Leisure or equivalent is a requirement -Prior leadership experience -Certification in behavioral training courses such as GPA, P.I.E.C.E.S, or DementiAbilities -Ability to make decisions and creatively solve problems while respecting the residents' choices and following policies and procedures -Demonstrate strong organizational, flexibility, coordination and planning skills -First Aid and CPR-C an asset -Current criminal reference check including vulnerable sector screen -Demonstration of a caring and compassionate attitude while working with team members, residents, volunteers and external community participants. -Experience in volunteer motivation and management -Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and technology a requirement -Experience in memory care programming an asset -Proven related experience a requirement
