Overview
Design and engineer fire alarm systems per NFPA codes and project specs.

Tasks
-Assist and provide feedback to the sales and project managers for organizing, planning, and prioritizing work. -Work independently or with others as a team to complete all tasks and related design functions. Routinely work with sales and project managers to ensure the most efficient design while maintaining the highest quality standards. -Using software such as AutoCAD, develop floor plans, riser diagrams, schematics, system power calculations, and control panel layouts. -Participate in the review process with other design team members and drafters, as requested by management. -Follow all Sciens policies and procedures during daily work activities. -Ensure design complies with applicable codes and AHJ requirements. -Review all designs before submitting for approval to ensure they meet Sciens quality standard and code requirements. -Assist management by advising drafters to ensure that their goals and objectives are met. -Assist management in developing and implementing a quality service program to increase efficiency and proficiencies for the design and engineering department. -Design systems in accordance with NFPA and project specifications.

What You Bring
-Working understanding of fire alarm design. -Strong working knowledge of fire alarm codes and operations. -Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills. -Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and other software programs required to perform job. -Two to five years of experience designing commercial fire detection systems. -Able to perform battery calculations and voltage drops -Ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency. -Able to work independently -Able to pass background check. -Proficient understanding of current NFPA 72 design standards. -Strong leadership and time management skills; and the ability to multi-task. -Ability to read and interpret fire alarm project drawings and specifications.
