The Role

Overview

Supervises safe, efficient installation, maintenance, and inspection of electric meter equipment

Tasks

-Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays -Develop and monitor skills of assigned employees and provide accurate feedback. Include feedback in performance evaluations. -Assist Work Organizer in planning, scheduling and assigning work in the most productive manner possible to meet goals, customer commitments and emergent work. -Work with equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs -Order, coordinate and ensure availability and timely delivery of materials, supplies and equipment. -Perform work in underground vaults through manholes -Ensure correct accounting for labor, materials and supplies. -Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions -Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses -Work within budgeted/projected resource limits. -Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday -Unload materials from delivery vehicles and deliver equipment and materials to various operating facilities -Ensure work activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety and environmental instructions and operating procedures. -The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. -Supervise direct reports in the safe, efficient and productive installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electric meter and test equipment. -Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs

What You Bring

-Effective interpersonal skills -Electric metering experience, preferred. -Highly thorough and dependable -Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations -Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills -Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of work experience -Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. -Demonstrated problem solving skills -Must be willing to travel to various work locations across the CECONY system and respond to system emergencies as needed. -Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies -Ability to respond to system emergencies -Ability to climb ladders and stairs -Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces -Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold -Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 2 years of work experience with a minimum of 1 year supervisory and/or electric distribution equipment work experience -Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations -Driver's License Required -Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment -High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of work experience or -Ability to lead/manage others -Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces) -Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems -Possesses strong technical aptitude -Working knowledge of Work Management/Logica Systems, CIS, MAMS, MDMS and ProField, preferred.
