Lab Technician Manufacturing Plant

Overview

Conduct ASTM testing and compatibility analysis for construction products.

Tasks

-Prepare test substrates for testing using cutting equipment including band saw, table saw and wet saw. -Travel on a limited basis to job sites and for product application support training. -Develop a test schedule to provide accurate turnaround time estimates. -Maintain organization of test articles during sample preparation, conditioning, testing and storage. -Customer Support (External and Internal): Provide timely response on requests from internal and external customers as it relates to compatibility testing and posting of results in the database. -Use of material testing equipment including microscope and Instron 5565. -Provide general Technical Service phone support. -Maintain cleanliness of laboratory environment and enforce laboratory hygiene plan. -Document observations and results of standard testing in detailed test reports.

What You Bring

-Maintain quick and accurate written and verbal responses to technical and non-technical questions. -Display excellent problem solving & communication skills. -Laboratory: 75% of time will be spent in the laboratory in constructing test samples, documenting performance and maintaining a clean working environment. Must be familiar with a laboratory setting and safety and be able to: -Minimum HS Diploma or GED with 5 years’ experience in a laboratory environment OR Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, General Science or similar with 3-6 months of work or coursework in a laboratory environment. -Test to ASTM C 1248, ASTM C 1247, ASTM C 1193, ASTM C 1135, ASTM C 1087, ASTM 794, ASTM C 793, ASTM C 719, ASTM C 679, ASTM C 679, ASTM C 661, ASTM C 639 and ASTM C 510 standard test methods. -Use of common construction tools such as wet saw, band saw and caulking gun. -Possess a team player attitude. -Familiar with laboratory safety and general laboratory procedures.
