The Role

Overview

Manage utility telecom construction projects, overseeing engineering phases and vendors.

Tasks

-Ensure that all phases of Engineering and all prerequisites (permitting, construction drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), Purchase Orders (POs), etc.) are tracked, monitored, and controlled ensuring completion -Monitor project schedules mitigating and/or justifications of schedule deviations -Provide engineering guidance on the construction of outside plant fiber optics system -Coordinate with other internal and external stakeholders ensuring compliance with project requirements -Ensure engineering quality from initiation to closeout and completion -Coordinate with the Client to verify the quantity of work completed and document any deviation from work completed versus values in the BOM -Act as an advisor to the engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations -Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Ensure all aspects of his/her role are executed safely. Always obey safety guidelines -Provide notification when prerequisites are completed, and work can be assigned and transitioned to the next phase of execution -Manage subcontracted engineering vendor -Review construction plans and permits for contractual requirements and constructability -Keep current on engineering trends and developments to recommend changes in program or design methods -Lead weekly status meetings with Client

What You Bring

-Had a good understanding of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) -Able to work within a PMO structure organization -You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality -You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work -Have 10 years of engineering experience with at least two years of management experience in utility systems or roadway design -Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications -Possess strong teamwork and communication skills -Possess strong multi-tasking and organizational skills -Work with ESRI, ArcGIS, and 3GIS, experience is a plus -Have a valid driver’s license, attend preconstruction meetings in person, and make field visits -Able to manage subcontractors -Have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field -Able to review, understand and contribute to project execution plans and schedules
