Lead civil/structural design for rail projects in Scotland.

Tasks

You’ll take technical ownership of projects from feasibility through detailed design, working on bridge reconstructions, platform renewals, station enhancements, and related civils schemes. -Maintain awareness of programme, budget, and quality targets. -Ensure designs comply with Eurocodes, Network Rail and DMRB standards, and company procedures. -Hands-on with design and analysis software (e.g., TSD, MIDAS, Superstress, AutoCAD). -Represent the design function in client and site meetings. -Produce, review, and check engineering calculations, drawings, and design reports. -Champion innovation, safety, and quality throughout the design process. -Manage and mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical development. -Lead design delivery across bridges, structures, and civil assets from concept through to detailed design.

If you’re a Senior Design Engineer who thrives on technical challenge and enjoys seeing your designs built on major UK rail infrastructure, I’d love a confidential chat. -Proven background in rail, civils, or structures design, ideally within frameworks or design-and-build environments. -Strong communicator and collaborator, confident in both client and team-facing settings. -Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering. -Communicate design philosophy clearly with project teams, clients, and stakeholders. -Chartered or Incorporated (CEng/IEng) – or working toward professional accreditation.
