The Role

Overview

Lead construction survey operations and supervise team on FIFO project

Tasks

-Establish and/or verify and maintain the project’s survey control network. Review Survey Control field work and perform accurate network least squares adjustments. Oversee the Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments. -Supervise the preparation of survey CAD drawings, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations. Oversee the development and management of survey data. Support the implementation of project’s machine control technology. -Responsible for the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities. Perform and/or check survey computations as required in the performance of duties. Provide project completion documentation including "As-Built" records. -Lead the oversight of all survey operations and provides technical direction to the direct-hire survey team. Direct the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs. Responsible for the creation and implementation of the survey training program. Oversee the administration of the survey work request program. Provide Construction Survey support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision. -Oversee the implementation of the 3D Laser Scanning operations, including reality capture and processing of scan data. Oversee the implementation of the UAV (Drones) program.

What You Bring

-Demonstrated experience with Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels and GNSS survey systems. -Engineering/Technical degree and 9 years’ experience in heavy construction/industrial surveying, involving a mix of field and office duties with modern instruments and software, with at least 3 years’ supervisorial experience or 15 years’ experience (in lieu of a degree), with at least 5 years’ supervisorial experience. -Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience. -Work under time constraints and must be adaptable to changing conditions. -Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Incidents” safety program. -Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner. -Demonstrated proficiency with Survey CAD software, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations. -Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to industrial surveying field & office activities. -Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards. Must have a solid record of successful project completion with little to zero rework. -Knowledge of construction survey principles. -Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe work ethic and work environment at all times. -Experience working on multiple work fronts. -Multi-Disciplined Field Engineering Survey experience with earthwork, excavation, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and piping, etc. installation layout and verification. -Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members, other departments, contractors and survey functional management. -Demonstrated experience using Trimble survey equipment and Access field software.
