Tasks

-Participates in developing and updating company technical standards and practices. -Provides technical and advisory assistance to other projects and offices. -Develops team members’ capabilities in support of individual career goals and team objectives. -Develops effective relationships within the organization. -Evaluates performance, administers coaching, and conducts annual performance reviews. -Leads planning, coordinating and executing of work-related to NSSS appurtenance and other components of the NPM. -Leads peer reviews and technical audits to ensure conformance to requirements. -The employee frequently is required; to sit and stand; walk; bend, use hands to operate office equipment; and reach with hands and arms. -Manages a team of professionals and provides assistance and mentoring on technical work. -Develops technical statements of work. -Manages the preparation and review of engineering deliverables that communicate the design and technical aspects of the NSSS appurtenance and other components. Typical design deliverables include: Design Specification, Loading reports, Design drawings, Interface Control Drawings, Calculations, Vendor design Scopes of Work, Vendor oversight activities, QME/EQ Specifications -Prepares estimates, schedules, labor, and material forecasts. -Interfaces and coordinates with internal and external clients as required for successful project execution. -Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving timecards, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services. -Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1. -Develops training materials in areas of subject matter expertise.

Strong technical writing skills. -Experience: A minimum of eight years of full-time, progressively responsible engineering experience required. Lead and/or managerial experience preferred. Additional required skills and experience include: -Adaptability: Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent interruptions, changes, delays, or unexpected events. -Proven track record of leading staff from multiple disciplines and coordinating design interfaces to provide design solutions in a timely manner. -Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering is required. A professional engineer license registration and an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering are preferred. -Planning/organizing: Capable leader; able to establish a vision and align an organization around the vision. Prioritizes and plans work activities, organizes personal and project timelines and deadlines, tracks project timelines and deadlines, and uses time efficiently.
