The Role

Overview

Tasks

-Collaborates on business development or pursuit activities. -Performs a limited range of project management responsibilities under the supervision of experienced managers. Asks questions when performing unfamiliar tasks. -Shares time, effort, and consideration with others. -Maintains best practice throughout all job functions. -Research and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards. -Participates in client, company and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships. -Keeps up with industry and/or discipline standards. -Prepares or modifies reports, plans and designs for projects. -Assists in resolving conflicts involving owners, architects and contractors as needed. -Engages others when tackling an unfamiliar task or responsibility. -Delivers on client expectations. -Performs research and makes recommendations as to the feasibility of systems or equipment. Evaluates products for their application. -Maintains knowledge and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Products. Acts as a resource for training or assisting others as needed. -Keeps others informed conveying information clearly and with an appropriate level of detail. -Answers questions from clients and architects. -Prepares system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics. -Provides technical guidance to others when appropriate. -Fosters a client-centric mindset and approach. -Communicates with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work. Maintains proactive communication throughout the project cycle. -Performs calculations and designs basic to intermediate design systems with minimal supervision. -May support or be responsible for project coordination activities such as managing emails, coordinating scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, responding to client questions and coordinating project delivery. -Visits job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. -Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a continuous basis. -Takes steps to ensure work is done correctly. -Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.

What You Bring

-Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with designers at all levels in a clear and concise manner. -Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred. -Completion of FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation preferred. -Adapts to changing work environments, priorities and organizational needs. -Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. -Recognizes routine problems and identify solutions. -High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. -Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards required. Knowledge applicable to a range of practices, project or program types preferred. -Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. -Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills. -Consistently performs to a higher standard of industry-wide expectations associated with carrying a PE license and being enabled as an Engineer of Record (EOR), including making reasonable engineering decisions and delivering the highest quality of work and accountability to projects. -Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu required. -High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes. -Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching. -Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus. -May be enabled as an Engineer of Record, having additional involvement, oversight, responsibility and accountability for the overall signing and sealing of the project. -Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (ie: mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural) and 3 years of relevant experience, or 5 years of experience without degree required. Professional Engineering (PE) license may be counted toward 1 year of direct experience. -Team oriented and willingness and ability to function in a highly collaborative environment, in group projects and leading less experienced designers. Ability to also work independently as needed. -Understands and applies Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies and procedures. -Occasional travel may be required (10-15%). -Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
