The Role

Overview

Install, maintain, and remove insulation in nuclear plant environments.

Tasks

-Perform proper asbestos abatement. -Assemble and disassemble prefab scaffolding. -Mix insulation cements and perform craft-related math. -Clean work areas and remove scrap materials. -Apply jacket coverings and install metal flashing. -Install molded or preformed insulation to pipes and vessels. -Install wire reinforcement and apply insulation tapes. -Remove insulation and read/interpret craft-related blueprints. -Cut materials to specifications and apply cement and mastic coatings. -Identify and understand hazards of insulation materials.

What You Bring

-Ability to express thoughts orally. -Ability to support other crafts as requested. -Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements. -Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools. -Demonstrate proper use and care of hand tools (both power and manual). -Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc. -Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures. -Ability to read and write complex documents in English. -Ability to pass specific training and qualifications. -Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. -3+ years of experience. -Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. -Visual acuity, balancing, stooping, reaching, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, feeling, hearing, talking. -Strategic thinking and planning for growth. -Capacity to reason and make sound decisions. -Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for long periods. -Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures. -Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired. -Ability to walk job sites and climb. -Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed. -High School diploma or equivalent. -Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening. -Lift at least 50 pounds. -Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels). -Availability for shift work, if needed.
