Commercial Construction Accountant

Overview

Manage accounting, payroll, and admin tasks for a construction firm using Sage.

Tasks

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable and able to support core administrative and accounting functions daily. This role will handle routine financial tasks and general administrative duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations across the company. -Assist in preparing annual 1099s -Assist with AR follow-ups and client collections -Review CA pre-liens monthly -Provide front-line software support for email, Miter, Office, and Dropbox -Add new users and manage user access across platforms (Office, Sage, etc.) -Create AR invoices, review SOVs, collaborate with PMs for monthly billing -Fill out basic credit applications -Monitor and sort company Admin email inbox; escalate as needed -Assist in preparing payroll timecards, reimbursements, mileage and per diem -Maintain state filing compliance (e.g., Annual Reports) -Post standard journal entries -Support credit card transaction coding -File monthly workers' comp -Input recurring insurance expenses and help reconcile related accounts -Assist with insurance annual renewals and applications -Assist with Sage Intacct software transition -Enter bi-weekly and monthly payrolls into Sage -Update budgets, contracts, and WIP over/under revenue adjustments -Prepare and send weekly AP reports to project managers -File monthly sales tax returns (Texas)

What You Bring

-Proficiency in accounting software (Sage preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite -Comfortable with light IT troubleshooting and software onboarding -Experience with construction-based accounting -Basic understanding of sales tax filings, 1099 processing, insurance audits -Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance -Apply for city & county business licenses -4+ years of experience in accounting, office administration, or operations -Essential soft-skills: communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and time management
