Technician 2 - Structured Cabling

Overview

Install and maintain structured cabling systems at customer sites.

Tasks

-Conceptually estimate and provide input on demand as required. -Reading blueprint drawings -Identifies technology parts and components. -Using construction software -Identifying potential risks -Assist and manage people and processes. -Identifying scope gaps in construction documents -Keeps work area clean. -Trimming (final installation of electrical devices) -Keeps up with changing technology. -Comes to work on time every day with appropriate attire and tools. -Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers, vendors, consultants, management, and employees -Visualizing the constructability of an estimate -Treats tools with respect -Performs strenuous physical work i.e., digging, kneeling, shoveling, lifting, pulling, pushing, climbing. -Estimating the necessary resources needed to complete required tasks. -Organizing work to accomplish tasks -Follow the safety guidelines if working with others, ensuring they are also working in a safe manner. -Operating a computer and Microsoft Office Suite products -Wears tools at all required times -Blueprint drawings and how it applies to the project. -Retain and access critical information from memory. -Installs quality work in a neat and workmanship like manner. -Works and climbs on ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms.

-Understand scopes of work and can effectively complete the tasks associated. -Demonstrate an understanding of various cable/fiber terminations. -Lifting, floor to waist (up to 50lbs) -Knowledge and understanding of technology systems terminology. -Demonstrate an understanding of installation of cable pathways. -Understands and demonstrates effective communication is both accurate and timely. -Vision acuity (near, far and without color deficiencies) -Ability to perform closeout documentation procedures. -Ability to complete daily/weekly company documentation requirements both accurately and timely. -Acts as a professional and uses basic work ethics. -Works in all weather conditions -Knowledge and understanding of relevant codes and standards. -Effective Listening -Basic understanding and ability in conduit bending and installing or taking training if needed. -Reading and writing -Ability to understand blueprints, follow the drawings and/or can identify possible issues. -Pulling (up to 100lbs) -Adapting to new and changing requirements, environments, and/or information -Demonstrate an understanding of required cabling needed for diverse types of field devices. -Pushing (up to 100lbs) -Constructability and the construction process -Demonstrate an understanding of troubleshooting skills by system, device, or cable type. -Effective written and oral communication sufficient to be able to elicit and communicate information and achieve understanding. -MS Office Software and other misc. computer programs -Speaking intelligently -Work independently or as part of a team. -Lifting, waist to overhead (up to 30lbs each arm) -Spatial orientation -Lifting, floor to chest (up to 50lbs) -Able and willing to take directions and execute those directives effectively and efficiently. -Problem solving -Knowledge and understanding of basic electrical/electronic principles. -Demonstrated ability to place/hang devices in the field. -Understand when to speak and when not to speak. -Positive Customer Interactions -Demonstrate an understanding of required testing methods and procedures by system, device, or cable type. -Basic network principles -Demonstrate an understanding of head end: racks, cabinets, panels, bundling, routing, dressing grounding, bonding, and terminations. -Carrying (up to 50lbs)
