The Role

Overview

Oversee utility‑scale solar/BESS cost estimating across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Tasks

-Electrical calculations, including wire loss, wire sizing, equipment rating, over-current protection, etc. -Review cost estimates, responsible for distribution of cost estimating tasks -Assists with Research and Development as required by obtaining cost estimates and performing product analysis on new technology and equipment -Support Sales and Development team by executing engineering design and estimating tasks, including, but not limited to the following -Prepare equipment specifications including bill of materials for the BOS -Risk assessment of each project and production of assumptions and exclusions determined during the creation of the cost estimate -Site evaluation, and review of developer documents, studies, environmental reports, and identify mitigation requirements to determine the feasibility of the project -Carry Weight: infrequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 10 pounds -Assist with the sales proposal and bid documents to clients -Produce array layouts and single line diagrams up to 30% engineering design package -Works with Procurement team to confirm material estimates -Prepare energy calculations and analysis of client electricity bills when necessary -Prepare scopes of work for sub – contractors and work closely with procurement team to confirm costs -Cost estimation oversight in all regions including the USA, Mexico, and Canada -Prepare system sizing and PVSYST generation estimates -Conduct site visits with sales representatives and clients, as necessary -Make recommendations on actions to reduce both technical and business risk

-Noise level ranges from moderate to high (if on construction worksite) -Bachelor’s degree in engineering, statistics, finance, or economics -High degree of professionalism and conduct at all times -Noise level ranges from low to moderate (if in office setting) -Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain complex information clearly -Experience with selling construction, wind, energy, mechanical, or technology solutions -Minimum of 5 years of experience in the PV utility industry -Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30% -Willingness to work long hours and under time pressure environments -Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position. -Demonstrated track record of delivering results -Ability to interact with senior-level management internally and externally -Travel: up to 30% as needed -Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization -Critical and strategic thinking skills -Stationary Position: frequently remains stationary up to 90% of the time and sitting up to 8 hours in a day -Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and estimating platforms -Shade analysis -Minimum of 10 years of professional estimating experience -Sight: frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far -Ability to travel up to 30% -Hearing and Speech: frequently communicates with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and all personnel matters; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations -Demonstrated customer focus and strong communication skills -Data-based decision-making, results oriented
