Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes
Review monthly Post Fixture reports and coordinate closely with the AGT Shipping and Trading Operations teams to identify and recommend changes to process and or operations which would assist in reducing financial exposure and make efficiencies.
Ensure commercial start & end dates for demurrage and shipping claim calculations are up to date on a daily basis
Provide inputs to prepare department progress reports for AGT Management
Provide training to junior members of the team
Analyse data with a high level attention to detail and accuracy.
Monitor the daily timebar position and demurrage/ claims provisions report ensuring that all reports and system entries are up to date at all times.
Manage, defend and negotiate other shipping claims, including P&I claims where applicable
Ensure no overpayment of cost claims and/or under recoveries of our account receivables; ensure timely settlement of receivables and payables
Ensure compliance to AGT’s business processes, policies and procedures that apply to the Post Fixture Loss team, and ensure corporate business ethics and ADNOC Global Trading’s Code of Conduct are followed at all times
Co-operate closely with all other departments, especially AGT Contracts and AGT Legal, where advice on terms relating to lay time, demurrage and other shipping costs is required.
Communicate with AGT Shipping Operations and Chartering teams to proactively avoid potential demurrage issues.
Takes responsibility for actions, remains focused on delivering goals and makes decisions on the best data available
Monitor the daily time bar report to ensure all notices and fully documented claims are sent on time
Ensure all invoices are sent, received and paid on time (for both payable and receivables)
Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the department in line with the AGT Performance framework.
Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with relevant standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function
Manage, defend and negotiate demurrage claims payable and receivable with ship-owners and trading counterparties, always within time bar deadlines
Ensure fast recovery of Post Fixture claim settlements from counterparts
Support the continuous improvement drive in AGT on systems, processes and procedures.
Provide and present Post Fixture Claim reports and budgets to the Manager of the Post Fixture Loss team, Head of Trading Operations and others as required
Implement approved department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the department work programs in line with AGT and International standards
Keep proper record of cost and recovery claims as per AGT’s record keeping policy in a structured and organized way fully visible and easily accessible.

Financial knowledge – understanding of financial planning and strategy, managing profitability, quality management, promoting process improvement, forecasting and developing budgets
Commodities Trading knowledge - keeps up to date with international events and geo-political climate

Works well with multiple groups including other supply chain business units to capture the best value and fosters relationships
Have a deep understanding of chartering and trading general terms and conditions, in particular in relation to laytime, demurrage and the shipping claims procedures and terms.
Industry knowledge - specific experience with/understanding of key drivers, economics, and management practices of integrated Oil supply chain and/ or Shipping
Perform Adhoc tasks or other tasks including projects to improve system or process, as required by the Line Manager. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
Forward thinking in the context of the big picture, anticipates the needs of key customers and the organization
6 - 8 years work experience in the shipping and / or oil trading industry with expert knowledge on Post Fixture Claims handling and procedures
Must have strong oral and written communications skills. Ability to clearly articulate and support ideas and recommendations to internal and external customers, peer groups and management
Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain Logistics, Maritime studies or Law. Knowledge of Maritime Law or Contract Law is preferred but not essential. Technical knowledge of vessels’ operation or previous experience on board a vessel is an added value.
