Tasks

Working for us, you’ll be delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that enhance life and protect our shared future As a Bridge Engineer, you will play an important part in every stage of a project from inception to completion. -Managing a small, locally based single discipline technical team and taking responsibility for delivery of their workload -Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme -Preparing and checking feasibility studies, inspection, assessment, and technical reports ensuring compliance with Amey procedures. -Contributing to the preparation of bids and general working winning function -Preparing and checking design approach, calculations drawing and documents. -Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions -To work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions -Implementing the project requirements to fully meet client specification with relevant standards. -Carrying out site visits and surveys, inspections and supervise sub-contractors. -Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries -Assisting with contract preparation together with project planning and programming. -Drive effective health and safety practices within the team -Assisting with the supervision, mentoring and development of team members from Graduate Engineers and Technicians through to Assistant Engineers.

What You Bring

We have a fantastic opportunity for permanent Structural Engineers/Bridge Engineers to join our Amey Consulting team for our Scotland account in Manchester/Newcastle/Sheffield with shared office space, attending office when necessary, and remaining days working remotely. We welcome applications from Structural Engineers across these region. -Experience with highway structures and major bridges -Enjoys working in a team environment; sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues. -Bachelors / Masters degree in Civil / Structural Engineering -Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as DMRB and / or Eurocodes -Being confident to work under minimum supervision and check the work of others. -Experience in FE analysis using Lusas, Atena or Midas software -Demonstrable experience in the assessment, design and / or management of bridges -Chartered status (or working towards it) with ICE, IStructE or CIHT other appropriate professional body -Compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations. -Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning -Excellent understanding of structural behaviour and analysis -Developed experience and expertise within Structural engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent
