The Role

Overview

Perform high‑voltage substation testing, maintenance, start‑ups, and reporting.

Tasks

-Represent the company in a professional manner with regard to communicating and interfacing with clients -Travel to job sites is required. -Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment -Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear included (but not limited to) the following: -Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs -Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended

What You Bring

-Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, ICEA, and NETA standards -Ability to understand the basic function and operation of an oil circuit breaker and a Gas Circuit Breaker -Demonstrated knowledge of the various functions and difference between protective relay types -Must pass pre-employment Drug, Alcohol and Background Checks; must continue to pass all random and client required Drug, Alcohol and Background Checks -Be able to properly lift up to 50 lbs. -Ability to perform basic current transformer tests -Motors and Motor Starter -At times will be required to work in austere working conditions -Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record -Must have, or be able to obtain, a TWIC card -Basic knowledge of motor ratings and motor testing as applied to rotating machinery -Basic knowledge of various metering configurations and connections -Ability to understand the basics of one-line, three-line, AC/DC schemes, and connection diagrams -Proven communication skills, both oral and written, to convey thoughts, and facts to a diverse group of individuals including administrators, engineers, and senior management -Meters, transducers, and power system metering -Alarm Systems and Annunciator -Ability to work effectively in a team based environment -Ability to understand the basics of a Potential Transformer (PT), Coupling Capacitor Voltage Transformer (CCVT), and a Current Transformer (CT) -Ability to work safely in hazardous situations within high voltage substations, petrochemical plants, refineries, and other safety critical locations -Demonstrate a solid understanding of the purpose of a current transformer and a potential transformer -Proven knowledge of Vacuum versus Air Circuit Breakers -Basic knowledge of electrical components, devices, and symbols -Demonstrated knowledge of The Power Triangle -Ability to travel up to 25% with flexibility for frequent overtime required -Ability to define typical AC & DC fundamentals -Must be able to work on feet throughout the work shift -Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) -Proven knowledge of a capacitor bank and the different capacitor types -Understand the major components of a power transformer
