Tasks

-Supporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long term health condition, enabling them to stay in work at least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people -Maintain an up to date understanding of technical / engineering developments and apply this knowledge appropriately to the projects in hand -Preparation of detailed requirements, ensuring traceability and working to the systems engineering process. -Developing products through to realisation and ensuring compliance against stringent defence standards such as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) -Liaising with subsystem suppliers -Offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job -The successful candidate will be expected to perform, the following type of activities:Implement designs and concepts for electronic products and systems which cost effectively fulfil contractual requirements.Support the overall system design process to ensure optimal allocation of functionality between different parts of the system.Preparation of detailed requirements, ensuring traceability and working to the systems engineering process.Validation and verification of systems, which may include producing test tools, the generation of test schedules, test and integration plans and technical reports.Developing products through to realisation and ensuring compliance against stringent defence standards such as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)Provide support to task planning and estimatingLiaising with subsystem suppliersMaintain an up to date understanding of technical / engineering developments and apply this knowledge appropriately to the projects in handSchedule own work to meet target timescales and deliverable milestonesPerform self-verification of own tasks to ensure completeness and quality of informationUndertake peer reviews to ensure completeness and quality of outputEnsure engineering designs address the following:SafetySecurityReusabilityReliabilityMaintainability -Ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible -Provide support to task planning and estimating -Communicating and promoting vacancies -Schedule own work to meet target timescales and deliverable milestones -Validation and verification of systems, which may include producing test tools, the generation of test schedules, test and integration plans and technical reports. -Support the overall system design process to ensure optimal allocation of functionality between different parts of the system. -Ensure engineering designs address the following:SafetySecurityReusabilityReliabilityMaintainability -Anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required -Perform self-verification of own tasks to ensure completeness and quality of information -Implement designs and concepts for electronic products and systems which cost effectively fulfil contractual requirements. -Undertake peer reviews to ensure completeness and quality of output

What You Bring

We are looking for an energetic and driven individual that will ideally have previous experience working in this area with an appreciation of some of the design challenges this kind of product faces. Should you not have the specific experience then candidates with military, defence or aerospace are sought. -possess good organisation skills. -Experience working in a regulated environment such as Defence. -Experience with electronics design and simulation software. -Experience of diagnosing, testing and fault finding electrical and electronic systems. -UK sole National -Computer literate with Microsoft office skills (minimum MS Word, Excel & Outlook & Internet). -Methodical with excellent attention to detail. -Has a drive and an ability for continuous improvement through process development. -Soldering, crimping, looming, electromechanical assembly. -Good communication skills. -A related subject degree or lower qualification would be acceptable for example degree in Mechatronics or HNC/HND in Electronics if the candidate is able to demonstrate significant relevant experience -Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of hand tools, both for mechanical and electrical operations. -Understands the principals and need for production control documentation and traceability. -Competence in the use of 3D software (ideally Siemens NX) for the production of 3D models and 2D drawings to BS8888. -Desirable experience:Experience working in a regulated environment such as Defence.Competence in the use of 3D software (ideally Siemens NX) for the production of 3D models and 2D drawings to BS8888.Working knowledge of the basic requirements specified in Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 (Nominal 12V and 24V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms) Def Stan 59-411 (Electromagnetic Compatibility), Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 Nominal 12 V and 24 V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms and Def Stan 23-009 Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA). -Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised. -Extensive industry experience in electronics design and development. -Ability and willingness to work at one of two client sites, Telford or Gateshead -Knowledge of the full product development lifecycle and the systems engineering process. -Ability to work proactivity within a team. Problem solve when required, and liaise with other Engineering functions to resolve problems. -Essential experience:Extensive industry experience in electronics design and development.Experience with electronics design and simulation software.Experience of diagnosing, testing and fault finding electrical and electronic systems. -Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. -SC or ability to be SC cleared. -Working knowledge of the basic requirements specified in Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 (Nominal 12V and 24V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms) Def Stan 59-411 (Electromagnetic Compatibility), Def Stan 61-005 Part 6 Nominal 12 V and 24 V DC Electrical Systems in Military Platforms and Def Stan 23-009 Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA). -Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
