Tasks

The Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for purchasing and ensuring accurate and timely deliveries of purchased materials, components, and services required for the manufacturing and maintenance of traffic systems. This role is crucial in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality supplies to meet production and hire depot needs. -Interpret MRP suggestions and raise logical purchase orders based on such. -Create and maintain accurate part numbers for all purchased items. -Support the implementation of category strategies and cost-saving initiatives. -Prepare reports on purchasing activities, including costs, supplier performance, and inventory levels as required. -Support stores with goods receipting queries. -Resolve any issues promptly, escalating to the Procurement Manager where necessary. -Monitor inventory levels to optimise stock and minimise costs. -Attend manufacturing meetings and provide delivery information/capture future requirements. -Collaborate with manufacturing and warehouse teams to address any discrepancies. -Proactively track deliveries and ensure all delivery dates are recorded/revised. -Process requisitions from manufacturing and wider group, accurately and efficiently raising purchase orders. -Ensure all purchase orders are placed, acknowledged and confirmed delivery dates recorded within Sage 200, and continually updated accordingly. -Support implementation of inventory control strategies to avoid stockouts and excess inventory. -Support sourcing activities where required.

What You Bring

-2+ years of experience in expediting, purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment which included delivery date management. -Understanding of quality control standards and procedures. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team. -Problem-solving skills to resolve supply chain issues and negotiate favourable terms as required. -Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate delivery date and inventory management support. -Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, putting in the extra mile when required. -Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices. -CIPS / Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. -Strong communication skills. -Proficiency in Excel, procurement software and MRP systems. -Use Excel to proactively forecast and process purchase orders based on manufacturing plans, BoMs, usage, and inventory levels. -Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
