The Role

Overview

Oversee construction of new hospital in Tarawa, Kiribati, managing contracts, safety and stakeholders.

Tasks

-Attending site every 2 days during the construction period and providing a brief weekly progress report to the client. -Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Site Specific Health and Safety Plan (SSHSP) and Site Specific Environmental Management Plan (SSEMP). -Working alongside and mentoring other Kiribati-based Egis staff. -Addressing day-to-day clarification of queries from the contractor. -Ensuring work is executed within the agreed budget, strategies are developed to effectively manage variations and quality of work outcomes meet or exceed client expectations. -Overseeing all construction activities under the project. -Maintaining close communication and collaboration with Egis’ project management team in NZ. -Managing contract administration and formal reporting for the construction contract (FIDIC contract). -Engaging and building relationships with key local stakeholders. -Coordinating with the contractor and managing all construction supervision activities for the construction works. -Arranging and controlling meetings with the construction contractor for the project. -Reporting all relevant information to the client along with any issues or changes in the documents and obtain directions as required.

What You Bring

-Excellent conflict resolution management, negotiation and problem-solving skills. -Tertiary qualifications in engineering (civil or structural) -Proven background in project management for engineering projects at all life stages within Australia, New Zealand, and preferably, within the Pacific region. -Strong stakeholder management and contract management expertise. -Strong analytical and analytical skills with proven ability to deliver complex projects independently. -High level of personal resilience and persistence with ability to influence others to achieve desired outcomes. -Effective verbal and written communication capabilities to interface with stakeholders at all levels. -Strong computer and system literacy. -Strong proficiency in English (written and verbal) -Demonstrated expertise in managing construction (building) projects.
