Tasks

-Interfacing with hardware devices and low-level interfaces. -Work collaboratively as a member of the Software Team, partnering with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering disciplines. -Work in an Agile project management environment. -Build microcontroller-based firmware features. -Optimize embedded systems for performance and power usage. -Design and build Ultrasonic image capture software in C++ on an embedded Linux platform and configuration features for our desktop application.

You will be joining our software and hardware engineers to help update our existing platform and build out our next generation platform. If you are someone who enjoys tinkering with hardware and writing code to interface with sensors and electronics, this is the role for you! You should love writing modern C++ for Linux and C for bare metal micro controllers. You will also make significant contributions to our desktop Software as it pertains to controlling your embedded system features. Experience writing code and algorithms for power-sensitive applications is a bonus. Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal background check. -Experience using a variety of hardware protocols and networking standards. -C++ 11/14 programming experience. -Beamforming and image processing in constrained environments. -Familiarity with Yocto and cross-compilation toolchains for Linux -Good communication skills, verbal and written. -Network programming and IoT technologies. -Experience optimizing algorithms for performance and power consumption. -Experience with some form of low-level device programming. -Development experience over a full product cycle writing embedded system software in Linux. -Bachelor of Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.

This role is on-site and is based out of DarkVision’s head office in North Vancouver, BC, where employees enjoy full access to our facility amenities including a well-equipped gym, squash court, climbing wall, steam room, private showers, and more. For this role, we anticipate paying $125,000 to $180,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
