Tasks

Construct, operate and maintain a water distribution system. The hours and days for this position are Tuesday - Friday, 7am-5:30 pm and also requires rotating on-call responsibilities. -Sweeps. Repairs water line breaks and/or leaks as required. Changes water meters. -Breaks pavement where necessary by whatever methods conditions prescribe. -Digs trenches by means of shovel, or other methods as conditions prescribe. -Acts as flagman to direct traffic. -Loads and unloads pipes and fittings. -Sets up barricades and traffic cones. -Performs routine maintenance on valves and fire-hydrants. -Builds rough forms for cement work. -Performs maintenance and paints. -Drives a company vehicle. -Tamps and backfills trenches. -Places pipes and fittings.

What You Bring

Nimble learning -Knowledge of power-tool equipment and construction materials. -High School Diploma or GED. -Ability to frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. -Requires normal physical and mechanical ability. -High school education or equivalent. -Must possess a valid California Driver’s License. -Ability to work in inclement weather daily. -Water Distribution Certification Grade I must be attained within 18 months of hiring. -Required to take after-hours emergency call-outs and be on-call. -Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions -Shovels, jackhammer, picks, digging bar, cement power saw, clay spade, wrenches, hand tools and power tools necessary to complete the job.
