Overview

First‑line support for desktops, laptops, peripherals and basic network issues for city staff.

Tasks

-Installs and updates operating systems and approved software packages; supports network printers, scanners, and shared drive access; -Assists with IT inventory tracking and equipment documentation; -Sets-up and configures new computers and related equipment to City standards, including replacing or upgrading hardware components such as RAM, hard drives, monitors, and keyboards; -Conducts systems and database back-ups as necessary and ensures back-ups are functional; -Maintains accurate and complete records and provides reports to IT Manager regarding system hardware and software components and performance, and end users problems and issues; -Ensures all systems comply with City’s IT security and data protection policies; and -Performs basic network administration duties such as monitoring or adding applications, users and devices, modifying user profiles, re-setting passwords and file maintenance; documents all network changes and revisions; -Assists end-users with troubleshooting basic software, hardware, and network issues; -Stays abreast of new information technology trends and innovations; reads appropriate literature and attends training as necessary; -Participates in various IT projects such as hardware refreshes and software deployments; -Maintains connectivity with City network, diagnoses and troubleshoots basic problems with desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment; -Conducts training sessions with desktop users; provides information on system and application functions; communicates user access rights;
