Senior Estimator

Overview

Plan and manage estimating activities for construction projects, ensuring accurate bids.

Tasks

-Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable) -Compare competitive trade bids -Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award -Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules -Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing -Review project plans, requirements and specifications -Determine labor and construction equipment costs -Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors -Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors -Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager -Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks -Prepare conceptual estimates -Participate in bid compilation on bid day -Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters) -Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable) -Submit requisitions for purchase of materials

What You Bring

-Working knowledge of construction costs and principles -Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience -Drafting and computer skills -Minimum 5 years Estimating experience -Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings -Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and project management experience desirable) -Able to perform all Estimator responsibilities -Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations
