The Role

Overview

Manage and oversee large‑diameter HDD projects, crews, safety and business development.

Tasks

-Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready to work. -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Provide input on HDD project estimates and cost analysis. -Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure the alignment with project goals. -Fully participate in early planning stages of project procurement, design, and constructability. -Manage the planning and field execution of large diameter, long run HDD installations. -Lead and be responsible for field safety, quality, and environmental compliance. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Train and mentor crew members on safe and productive drilling operations. -Oversee proper rig set-up, bore planning, mud mixing, and execution of the work. -Responsible to maintain project schedule and deliverables. -Supervise all crew members including drill operators, mud crew, and support crew. -Monitor drill rig operations, trouble-shoot and provide solutions if issues arise. -Assist in identifying target future HDD projects and opportunities. -Advise senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, safety issues, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in resolving such problems as required.

What You Bring

-Experience in client relations, business development and cost estimating. -The physical ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions and move objects up to 30 pounds -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. -Experience operating or supervising drilling operations utilizing drill rigs ranging in pull back force of 200,000lb to 1,000,000 lbs. -Ability and desire to travel and relocate as business requires around North America and work varied shifts, which could include evenings and weekends -Understanding of cost management processes, planning, scheduling and logistics to execute a project. -Must have 10+ years of experience in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) as a field supervisor type of role, leading crews & working to defined contract plans, specifications, applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements. -Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative; a passion for safety, with the ability to ensure that nobody gets hurt. -Regular, reliable attendance -Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity and strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
