Senior technician installing, maintaining, testing high‑voltage transformers
-Resolve equipment issues using extensive knowledge and experience and recommend procedural enhancements. -Comply with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals. -Operate transformer oil processing equipment with complete documentation. -Maintain budget adherence for work hours and vendor deliveries. -Lead transformer testing and troubleshooting, interpreting, and explaining results. -Lifting and/or guiding heavy sections of materials -Oversee the re-gasketing of transformers and create new gaskets/O-rings. -Work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignment. Receive information from team members regarding customer needs and product requirements and utilize this information to perform one’s function. -Maintain strong client relationships, prepare project estimates, expand project work scopes, and assist in negotiating extra charges. -You build strong relationships within the team, across RESA departments and locations and with customers and vendors. -Keep assigned work-area clean, organized, and orderly. Ensure all safety and industrial hygiene requirements are maintained. -May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 100 pounds. -Ensure all work meets Quality Assurance specifications and conduct pre-completion inspections. -Manage all aspects of transformer service tasks. -As directed, complete service and repair work at Customer location(s). -Maintain clear communication about project details, safety, and environmental concerns. -Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are in safe operating condition and perform necessary maintenance. -You collaborate to create the best solutions for each other and our customers. -Manage vehicle and equipment maintenance. -Help in planning and coordinating field projects, managing resources, and preparing reports. -Complete test reports in company software in a timely manner. -Mentor junior technicians in safe and effective equipment operations. -You promote goodwill by handling all contacts (example: coworkers, management, vendors, customers, etc.) with respect, courtesy, cooperation, attentiveness and follow instructions from management. -Support testing of transformers and accessories, documenting results proficiently.
-Effective communication skills and professional client interaction. -Conduct complex transformer service operations with advanced technical skills. -Ability to walk through customers’ sites, inspect problem(s) and report problem(s) to Sales and Project Management. -You can effectively deliver messages to a variety of individuals (RESA employees, vendors, customers, etc.). -Every day is different, so we need to be innovative, decision makers, flexible and adaptable. -Interpret work scope, drawings, diagrams, and technical documents proficiently. -Must have excellent balance and able to maintain body equilibrium that exceeds what is normal for ordinary locomotion. -Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time. -Must be able to climb up and down on ladders at varying heights with fall restraint. -extreme heat and/or humid conditions -Energized electrical work on equipment or systems operating at greater than 600 volts; extremely hazardous environments with risk of electrocution -Emergency call back procedures twenty-four hours a day. Required to work rotating shifts, which includes evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. -Ability to move hands and manipulate objects easily and skillfully. -Skilled in the assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting of transformers and related accessories. -Must be able to ascend and descend stairs in operating unit. -You understand and apply your knowledge of techniques, policy, procedures, equipment, and skills involved in the job. -Ability to sit, bend, stretch, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. -Extensive travel -steady rainfall, fog, snow, and freezing conditions -Must be able to work weekly and/or weekend overtime. Holiday work is scheduled as per business/Customer need. -Must be willing to work and/or drive periodic workdays in excess of 12 hours. -You produce easily understandable and accurate reports that meet customer and/or Company expectations. -Extensive experience and strong industrial wiring and troubleshooting skills. -Must be able to enter and move about in confined spaces and wear personnel protective equipment. -Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision and depth perception. -Must display ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals and safety/warning signs. -Will be required to pass physical, drug, and alcohol testing. -Diesel fumes -Collaborative, capable of working effectively both in teams and independently. -You display sound judgment and decision-making skills. You avoid choosing courses of action that assume unreasonable risk to yourself or the Company. -Must have good eye/hand coordination. -High school diploma or equivalent required and At least 5 years of experience in related field. -Adequate olfactory and auditory abilities. -Willingness and ability to travel (min. 85% travel) -Strong background and experience in most types of high voltage equipment through the 230 kV class. -Proficient with Microsoft Office and online tools. -Must understand special hazards associated with high voltage equipment. -For positions that utilize a company vehicle and Construction Equipment, will be required to have a valid Class 5 driver’s license. -Proven multitasking ability, managing priorities, and supervising team activities.
