The Role
Overview
Provide legal counsel on construction law, manage contracts, disputes, and advise management.

Tasks
-Manage outside legal counsel. -Conduct training classes for company personnel. -Advise management concerning claims and disputes with owners and subcontractors. -Draft and/or oversee the development and implementation of complex contracts, and assist in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors. -Develop legal opinions as necessary and provide counsel to management. -Conduct research and interpret laws, rulings and regulations for implications and applicability to construction operations. -Represent the company in meetings with outside counsel and settlement negotiations. -Strategize with operations, and lead teams in developing and organizing data and presentation for settlement meetings on construction disputes. -Stay current on legal trends and best practices as it relates to construction law and corporate law, and educate operations. -Oversee and perform certain discovery efforts. -Advise management concerning legal issues as they relate to construction operations.

What You Bring
-Ability to travel on a regular basis. -Ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple demands, priorities, and projects simultaneously. -Deep understanding of and experience applying construction law, and comprehensive understanding of construction process, methodology and documents. -Superior analytical skills, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. -Strong team player and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals at all levels of an organization. -Law degree from an accredited law school, and member in good standing in any of the following states: California, Colorado, Georgia, New York, Oregon, Texas, or Washington. -Possess unquestionable ethics and integrity. -Proven leadership and management ability. -Strong sense of accountability, integrity and taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and resolving issues proactively. -8-13 years of experience with a law firm or combined experience with a law firm and in-house. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
