Tasks

-Ensure timely completion of assigned work in compliance with safety, environmental, ANSI, DOT standards, manufacturers’ guidelines, and Fleet Services best practices. -Oversee assigned work and assuring quality of work being performed. -Monitor work order accuracy to ensure customers are accurately charged for services. -Directly collaborate with customers during storm restoration efforts and perform all duties and responsibilities outlined in the Fleet Storm Plan. -Maintain positive employee relations and culture based on trust, open communication, personal accountability, ownership, teamwork and collaboration. -Ensure geographic area is appropriately staffed and supported for 24/7 operations. This includes both individual availability and setting employee expectations. -Work collaboratively with customers to preform required maintenance and repairs in a way the maximizes equipment availability. -Develop a culture of two-way communication, encouraging employee feedback. -Actively communicate with employees on all relevant items related to the company, Fleet Services and the work group. -Maintain a working knowledge of bargaining unit contracts -Support human performance and corrective action programs by investigating, reviewing and communicating events, leading and participating in investigations and implementation of corrective actions. -Monitor and manage garage expenditures to support overall budget and incentive goals. -Local representative and point of contact for fleet, customer, equipment and facilities issues at assigned maintenance locations. -Provide safe working conditions and practices by providing adequate safety training of work practices and procedures. Initiate action to promptly correct potential or actual safety problems. -Serve as a model of leadership for change. -Monitor all aspects of team’s performance with a focus on continuous improvement. -Recruit and develop technicians. Manage employee development including technical, compliance and on-the-job training -Support transparency objectives by keeping customers informed about work impacting charges or equipment availability. -Foster a strong safety culture as it relates to both employee and operator safety. -Engage with internal customers to ensure the organization is meeting their needs. -Initiate actions to ensure objectives are achieved and improvement opportunities are addressed. -Maintain positive customer relations by ensuring timely resolution of issues and concerns. Effectively elevates and communicates issues and concerns to appropriate Fleet GO staff teams. -Work effectively with Fleet GO staff identifying areas of improvement for maintenance practices and procedures. -Enable employees to make decisions within boundaries of processes and goals. -Analyze key performance reports and effectively monitor workgroups operational performance. -Maintain a working knowledge of Duke Energy safety and environmental policies and procedures. -Complete field reviews, observations, and audits to ensure progress, performance, quality and results. -Analyze reports and take appropriate actions -Support storm restoration efforts including any off-system deployments -Ensure successful implementation of organizational improvements and technology.

What You Bring

-In addition to required diploma, five (5) years minimum of related work experience. -Ability to effectively relate to craft, leadership, and external stakeholders -Demonstrated effective written & verbal communication skills -Demonstrated effective conflict management and negotiating skills. -Demonstrated effective leadership skills -Residency requirement- Must live no more than an hour from Duke Energy Facility. -Demonstrated ability to motivate and engage employees. -2 or 4 Year Degree -Possesses working knowledge of Fleet maintenance processes. -Valid driver’s license -Experience managing represented employees and working through labor agreements. -Experience with process or continuous improvement efforts -CDL License -Experience working with customers. Demonstrated good customer service skills -Understanding of basic financial concepts including experience managing budgets. -Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills -Prior supervisory experience working with craft employees. -Demonstrated effective problem solving and analytical skills -Be a student of the Fleet Services business and the utility industry. -Demonstrated technical aptitude and ability to learn and communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse group of stakeholders. -Demonstrated ability to work self-directed and be a team player -High school diploma/GED -Effective at managing through multiple and at times conflicting priorities in a manner that keeps employees focused and fosters positive relations with customer and other stakeholders -Demonstrated ability to implement and lead others through changes. -Working knowledge of the equipment and associated regulations (DOT, ANSI, etc.)
