The Role

Overview

Ensures safety compliance, training, and risk mitigation in assigned operating area.

Tasks

-Conduct accident investigations on time. -Conduct safety orientation and training in a timely, professional manner. Deliver quality presentations. -Work with Operating area management to integrate HSE into daily work procedures. -Implement accident prevention activities as directed or needed. -Develop and promote a culture that delivers safe workers and a safe work place. -Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state and federal safety policies and regulations. -Perform safety audits and provide reports. Serve as a catalyst to ensure compliance. -Assist in injury/illness case management to limit OSHA recordability. -Assist Operating area management in executing safety responsibilities and in making safety efforts successful. -Recommend safety improvement/accident prevention methods. -Make internal and external customer service a top priority. -Act as the technical resource in respective Operating area for HSE and DOT related issues.

What You Bring

-Must be able to obtain the Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification within 4 years from hire date. -Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following fields: Occupational Health & Safety, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Public Health Sciences, Environmental Science, Business Administration, Marketing, Sales. -Able to travel regularly with overnights as needed. Flexibility to work additional hours/weekends as required. -Must be able to work independently as well as on a team. -Emergency Response Planning - Knowledge of ERP design and communication best practices. -Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis - Skilled in conducting investigations and identifying contributing factors. -Good time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once. -High School Diploma or GED required. -Ability to be hands-on, comfortable speaking and presenting to groups. -Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. -A recognized safety certification is a plus. -Data Management & Reporting - Competent in the use of digital tools such as Microsoft 365 or Power BI. -Strong supervisory/management skills, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. -Regulatory Compliance - Understanding OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, DOT, EPA, and other applicable standards. -Experience in the utility and/or construction field may be substituted with a College degree in Safety or a related field. -Current valid driver’s license. Must be able to meet the Company’s driving standards. -Prior construction or direct safety-related experience preferred.
