Tasks

Working Conditions: This position works primarily in an office environment and conducts regular visits to construction sites. -Early Project Development: Serve as a subject matter expert, supporting early project phases and identifying innovative design and delivery solutions. -Procurement & Contract Negotiation: Manage procurement processes, negotiate contracts, and administer consultant and contractor agreements. Analyze change requests and/or value management opportunities for cost, necessity and feasibility and identify innovative solutions. -Technical Evaluation: Review technical reports and change requests to assess feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with project goals. -Interested Party Engagement: Lead communication and collaboration with internal departments, regulatory agencies, consultants, contractors, and interested parties in the community. -Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project records, including financial tracking, risk assessments, and performance evaluations; prepare and present reports on key metrics and recommendations. -Permitting & Approvals: Coordinate and sequence permit applications and regulatory approvals to keep projects on schedule. -Subject Matter Expert: May act as Discipline Champion Alternative for Supply's architectural review process and prequalification process under the Architectural category. -Lead project planning, design and execution: Lead end-to-end project management of complex capital projects, including scope definition, scheduling, strategy development, and budget oversight. -Standards Development: Create and maintain architectural design standards and policies to guide future projects. -Risk & Compliance Management: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks; ensure compliance with procurement policies, building codes, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements. -Architectural Oversight: Provide design guidance and contract administration expertise, exercising professional judgment on deviations and ensuring design integrity. -Consultant & Contractor Management: Oversee performance to ensure quality, scope adherence, and timely completion of deliverables.

What You Bring

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months. -Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or (LEED) Accredited Professional designations would be considered assets. -Excellent communication, collaboration, and political acumen are essential in this role, along with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues. -A degree in Architecture and at least 4 years of relevant architecture experience obtained after receiving your Registered Architect designation and current registration as a Registered Architect with the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA), in good standing, by the first day of work. -Working knowledge of architectural best practices, Alberta Building codes, and City of Calgary permitting processes and requirements is required. -Experience in design and construction of public sector capital projects is considered an asset. -The successful candidate will have strong analytical thinking and judgment, along with the ability to provide technical or professional advice to a variety of audiences. -Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. -Experience must include work on a variety of building types in the areas of design, construction, procurement, contract administration, and negotiating terms, conditions and fees.
