Tasks

Our client is currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to work in office in Bergen County, NJ. This individual will be responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services for construction projects by sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness, timely delivery, and adherence to project budgets and schedules. -Collaborate with project management and accounting teams to align purchasing with budgets and project specifications. -Monitor and track inventory, delivery schedules, and vendor performance to avoid project delays. -Perform cost analysis to identify savings opportunities and support value engineering. -Issue, track and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets and cost codes. -Serve as the primary point of contact for all purchasing and procurement activities. -Maintain vendor files and purchasing log. -Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure the best value for the company. -Ensure all purchasing activities comply with policies, project specifications, and industry standards. -Monitor and manage open purchase orders -Source and evaluate suppliers, obtaining competitive bids and quotes for materials, equipment, and services. -Assist with administrative duties including communicating and answering inquiries from vendors or customers. -Manage supplier relationships, resolving issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing. -Review and process purchase order requests submitted by management.

What You Bring

As a growing family-owned business, they are looking for an individual who is a self-motivated team player and is excited by the opportunity to grow with the company. -Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills -Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or buying (Construction industry strongly preferred) -Familiarity with construction budgets, materials, cost codes, and project documentation. -Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. -Familiar with AIA forms -Strong negotiation and contract management skills
