Tasks

-Makes estimates of time, personnel, and material required on assigned tasks; -At state owned airports may be required to stand by for and respond to fire and/or crash emergency situations; -Stay connected! Log in daily to your JobAps Personal Status Board to track your status and check email (including spam/junk folders) for updates and tasks. -Performs duties related to the trade or trade areas as required; -Keep necessary records; -May operate and maintain heavy earth moving equipment; -Keeps necessary records; -May operate trucks and power equipment. -Make estimates of time, personnel, and material required on assigned tasks; -prepare estimates and keep shop records; -Will perform snow removal duties.

What You Bring

-Experience using internet browsers to utilize Work Order systems. -Perform highly skilled maintenance and/or construction work requiring the application of trade skills, codes, and standard trade practices in a variety of trade areas including but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVACR, glazing, masonry, painting work, etc; -Referral Questions: This posting may require completion of additional Referral Questions (RQs), which must be completed by the questionnaire’s expiration date. If requested, RQs can be accessed via an email sent to you after the job close date or by visiting your JobAps Personal Status Board (Certification Questionnaires section). -Experience operating trucks and power equipment. -Experience driving small dump truck with trailer. -Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility, and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties. -Experience with computers including Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc. -oral and written communication skills; -utilize computer software. -Educational Credits: List your earned credits and degrees from accredited institutions accurately on your application. To receive educational credits towards qualification, the institution must be accredited. If the institution of higher learning is located outside of the U.S., you are responsible for providing documentation from a recognized USA accrediting service which specializes in determining foreign education equivalencies to the contact listed below. -Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights; may be exposed to extreme weather conditions and to risk of injury from equipment. -Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply the standard tools, materials, methods, and practices of a variety of trade areas; -Experience responding to emergency need. -Experience in maintenance and repair of commercial, institutional and residential facilities. -interpersonal skills; -Ability to -The appointing authority may require completion of hazardous materials training programs, such as asbestos, PCB, PFAS, consistent with EPA guidelines for operations and maintenance during employment in this class. Incumbents may be required to use protective equipment such as respirators and safety goggles. -Experience working in multiple building trades. -Performs highly skilled maintenance and/or construction work requiring the application of trade skills, codes, and standard trade practices in a variety of trade areas including but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVACR, glazing, masonry, painting work, etc; -Experience operating lawn and garden equipment. -A physical examination may be required. -At the University of Connecticut Internship Training Program: Possession of 4,000 registered on-the-job training (OJT) apprenticeship program hours, recognized by the Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship, along with related instruction hours in the respective maintenance trade area may be substituted for the General Experience for licensed trades (Electrical, Plumbing, HVACR) only. -At other state agencies: Two (2) years of experience as a Qualified Craft Worker Trainee may be substituted for the General and Special Experience. -Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma designating completion of subject requirements in a maintenance trade area may be substituted for two (2) years of the General Experience. -Experience working in facilities occupied by persons with disabilities. -Experience providing emergency/on-call snow removal duties.
