To maintain 5s by removing all tools, equipment, and parts not needed in the work area and for those that are needed to ensure they have a dedicated, labeled home and are in that dedicated home.
Plan inspection procedures and layout work in proper inspection sequence, make all necessary mathematical calculations.
Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations including those regarding the usage of PPE, Emergency Plans and EH&S Policy.
Collaborate with customer to understand tool/equipment requirements through Scope of Work (SOW) review and, if necessary, coach customer on development of effective SOW.
Studies specifications, engineering blueprints, tool orders, and shop data and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.
Utilizes CAD software extensively and occasionally hand sketches to design welding, machining, and assembly fixtures for manufacturing.
Designing fixtures and tooling in modelling software and making detailed 2D prints of all components.
Make correct decisions as to fits, finishes, machining, and assembly sequences in order to produce workable units and maintain close tolerances.
Applies algebraic and geometric formulas and standard tool engineering data to develop tool configuration.
To be autonomously involved and participating in continuous improvement activities, such as suggestions, kaizens, projects, training, and EOFs.
Develop tools that focus on ease of use for end-user and incorporate, when possible, error mistake proof devices to help reduce or eliminate human error.
Ensure all products meet the quality guidelines and follow all quality standards, procedures and guidelines in place and be active in improving product quality.
Set up and make tool tryouts, diagnose, and remedy operations, material, or dimensional problems.
Perform design reviews and follow-up fixturing concerns through to production.
To monitor for and alert their Team Leader or Supervisor of any abnormalities from the standards in their area. This includes abnormalities in standard processes, standard machine operation, product quality, and logistics management.
To contribute to the continuous improvement of safety, quality, and productivity by submitting one (1) Suggestion every two (2) months for a total of six (6) per year.
To identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions by completing observation cards.
Completes all CILR activities as required, identifies deficiencies and sources of contamination, including difficult access areas in the workstation, and provides suitable countermeasures to address these issues.
Modifies tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance.
Recognize and report for correction drawing or blueprint errors that may prevent proper function of tool.
